Over the years the reputation of email marketing has gone from innovative to intrusive from can't miss to miserable. As is typically the case, the truth falls somewhere in the middle. Email marketing, as with many new tools performed very well when first introduced. Ironically, many of the reasons marketers loved email also bear responsible for its downfall. The breadth of access, ease of use and low cost led to its misuse and intrusive reputation. The good news is that used responsibly email marketing can still be an effective marketing tool.
